What keeps you motivated through life?
In an official setting, I was once asked, “What keeps you motivated?” Having searched within as to what truly gets me motivated and keeps me in this momentum, here is my answer:
1. I discovered my ‘WHY’ and pursued it- Why am I in marketing, why do I love it. Why do I work 8am-5pm weekly and even spend extra hours working? Reason is, I love creativity, being a brand manager in the marketing field gives the room and liberty for that in different facets.
Also, marketing is one of the few departments you get to relate with every other unit (various stakeholders) in an organisation directly or indirectly. There is no limit to the stakeholders you need for each project. Also, a corporate job keeps one disciplined and prevents one from being laid back. Just to mention a few.
2. Music is one thing that has kept me going. This has a way of lifting one’s spirit even when one feels demotivated.
3. Another thing I learnt from colleagues is to pause and go have meaningful conversations with team members or other departments. This eases off tension, builds your networking skills and keeps you Top of Mind. You never can tell what you’ll learn from the next person.
4. Although my WHY’s and other subtle tactics are strong enough to keep me going to a large extent, there are moments, I need that extra drive from within. I have come to realise, that even my desires can’t keep me motivated 100%. This brings me to unveil my ultimate source of motivation. My ultimate source of motivation is Christ. Having read the Bible, there are things expected of me as a Christian.
“But there is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them, that makes them intelligent” Job 32: 8
You are expected to exude intelligent in all you do. Your business, workplace, school should see this fruit e.t.c
Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. Daniel 6:3
This scripture is self-explanatory. Due to the DNA you carry as a child of God, You should have exceptional qualities and this will stand out.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
When circumstances come to make you fright or give up, go back to God, rely on his word and obey him. He will give you peace and make all things work together for your good.
In conclusion, the genuinely answer to the question, “What keeps me motivated? Christ keeps me motivated. Fellowshipping with him does.
Reading his words, listening to messages to remind me of his promises and listening to empowering music keeps me motivated.
I Love You and God Bless You
Good as always
Thanks a lot!
