GOD DOES NOT TAKE SIDES HE STANDS BY HIS WORD

Today, I had a discussion with my husband which ended with both of us having different views about things. I was sure my views were right and my solution better than his. This was not out of pride, I just did not want us to make mistakes, so I prayed this simple prayer:

‘God please take my side and support my suggestion, prove me in the right.’

I also think my husband will respect my opinion more if God would take my side. Which woman would not want that! Here comes the reply to my request:

‘I do not take sides daughter; I only defend my Word.’

What! I thought, I have been a good girl to you Lord, obeying your word and trying to do things your way. Then the Spirit of God reminded me of the encounter Joshua had with the Prince of the Lord’s host as Israel advanced to take the Promise land.

“When Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up, and behold, a Man stood near him with His drawn sword in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, Are you for us or for our adversaries? And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of the Lord’s host have I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, what says my Lord to His servant? And the Prince of the Lord’s host said to Joshua, loose your shoes from off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.” [Joshua 5:13-15]

This is proof that regardless of our heart desires, the Lord will only do His will and honour his word.

The Bible also illustrates, how God made a covenant with Abraham and his seed, to be his special treasure forever. In addition to this, he gave them the land of Canaan as their perpetual inheritance forever. Nonetheless, giving them the land of Canaan did not mean he would be defending them because they were his special people but because of His word.

In the same way, God will not be defending me because I am his child, but to the extent to which I obey his word. Realizing who the Prince of the Lord’s host was, Joshua bowed down in submission and worshiped his leadership; the same should be our response in all aspects of life including marriage. Worship God submit to him and obey Him.

David wrote, “Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. [Psalm 103:20]

Remember, God does not take sides, he stands by his word. So, stand on his word then he will stand by you.
